The Desolate Wasteland of Post-Christmas releases

While Buddy may be getting the most out of his brand new X-Box 360, those of us who are veterans of the system are pretty much in a rut right now. Not that there is anything coming out for the PS3, Wii, or PC that is of interest. Sure, there is the occassional nugget and some people might be excited about upcoming releases this month but I can’t help but think the enthusiasm is the akin to a starving man talking about how good a McDonald’s hamburger is. Yeah, it might fill you up for a little while but then you’re just going to be starving after you’re done.

With videogame prices higher than ever and consumer confidence low, watching game companies complain about poor performance over the holidays is bewildering. That may not have been the best time to bank on your new IP’s. I’d like to continue pointing out that my paycheck does not increase around the holidays and that I continue to collect it throughout the year. You could be releasing some games right now and I’d buy them. It’s not like I have a lot of options right now!
